Come on in. Digital Dollhouse opens the door to a brand-new type of fun.
Offering a brand new world of fun, charm and creativity, Digital Dollhouse will open its doors today.
Aimed at girls of all ages, Digital Dollhouse is an online ?¢‚ǨÀúPlayspace enabling children to combine the traditional dollhouse play with the latest technologies associated with immersive communities and creativity.
Based in Los Angeles, Digital Dollhouse is the brainchild of Jesyca Durchin, an award-winning producer of girls software for companies such as Mattel and Disney.
Seeing the huge potential in creating a brand-new online category of ‘Playspaces’ and the value in forging a relationship between traditional and online past-times, Digital Dollhouse was born.
Visitors to the Playspace are presented with breathtaking and authentic looking houses which they can easily transform into homes by selecting realistic furnishings and accessories, accurately modelled on real-world items.
Adding further fun, members can also use the virtual marketplace to purchase additional furniture and decorative accessories as well as participate in the thriving community.
Said Digital Dollhouse CEO and Founder Ms Durchin: ‘Digital Dollhouse was created as wish fulfilmen for girls. I wanted girls of all ages to have a realistic interactive environment that they could design and control, rather than a cartoon-like technological world that was controlled for them.I truly believe that beauty and technology can co-exist in amazing and wonderful new ways.
Digital Dollhouse appointed K Zero several months ago to provide strategic marketing services and we’ve been hard at work developing the overall positioning, launch marketing, brand implementation and a strategic alliance strategy.
In terms of the positioning and focussing on the initial play pattern, we’re not strictly speaking categorising Digital Dollhouse as a virtual world, but instead using the term ‘Playspace’. We’ve done this to differentiate the offering away from the growing number of casual gaming companies in the virtual worlds space.
There are three main facets to the Digital Dollhouse experience.
Firstly ‘Design’ – members are able to take highly realistic objects and place them into the rooms to make their personalised Dollhouses.
Secondly ‘Shop’ – there’s already over 200 items recreated and available for purchase inside the boutique. These range from kitchen appliances, candles and chandeliers, framed pictures and patterned wallpapers.
Digital Dollhouse is already working with real world brands and organisations to bring their products and assets into the boutique (more on this coming soon).
Thirdly, ‘Share’ – The gallery is an area allowing members to showcase their creations and vote on their favorite rooms.
Further functionality is provided by the ‘Dollhouse Cams‘, allowing members to view other rooms as they’re being created.
Digital Dollhouse opens its doors today with the Dream Victorian- a period house featuring exquisite antique furniture and accessories created in liaison with cultural historians in this era. Coming soon, additional houses will include the New York Loft and Tudor Castle. You can view the Flickr photostream here.
